Parable of the Rod (11)

Pursue Justice and Righteousness

By LGD media

In continuation of the Parable of the Rod, Pastor Emmanuel Irame, has charged Christians especially members of LGD to use their God given rods to pursue justice and righteousness.

The Cleric gave the charge in a recent sermon at the LGD Church auditorium, Warri.

He recalled that the rod as earlier discussed could be straight or bent and pointed out that a bent rod is an instrument of Satan used in manipulating Christians to be doing evil.

“So, when you notice that you are doing evil, know that your rod is getting bent and you must straighten up again. It shows that you are perverting and going out of the way of God, you are getting bent.

“The day you entered the Church you were made a rod, but the question is, are you a bent rod?

“Everything that is planned by God is straight and has a purpose, what is the purpose of your straight rod?

“God says he has made you a straight rod and perchance your rod turns to a snake, be assured that you would not be harmed but the day your rod bends God will use the straight rod to crush your head.

“Don’t work for Satan, don’t be an agent of Satan, don’t promote Satan, don’t help Satan to fight God, don’t help Satan to destroy LGD.

“I speak in parables so you could think straight. We have had too much of repent tomorrow may be too late. When Moses threw the rod down at the Palace of Pharaoh, it turned to a snake; that was not unusual. The Egyptians did the same but God’s rod swallowed the rods of the Egyptians. Why did God turn the rod of Moses to a snake? It was simply to show to the Egyptians that their knowledge of secret arts was not really a secret but that the knowledge and power of God was superior.

“When the Israelites who God love so much disobeyed God in the wilderness, God turned to a snake and bit them. Did you think it was the Devil that attacked them? God struck them in the wilderness and when they realized their misdeeds they repented and asked Moses to plead for them. God heard the plea of Moses and healed them. The episode shows that God can turn to a snake and restore itself to a normal straight rod.

“You will recall God’s command to Moses to prepare an artificial snake to be hung on a very long rod such that it would be raised up and anybody who looked at that snake would be saved from the deadly venom of the rampaging snakes that were killing the people. It was not the hung snake that was healing them, it was the rod; and miraculously, all who were dying became well.

“The secret of the healing miracle was simply focus on God. When the dying looked at the snake hung on the rod they were saved, so also, when a man looks onto God and focuses all his attention on God, his challenges in life will be overcome.

“Someone called me that the mother who had been sick for six days could not walk and they were contemplating taking her to the hospital, I refused and went into prayer and the mother got well.

“The rod serves two purposes in one’s life; as a measuring line and as a plumb line. A straight line enables a straight measurement and also enables block setting to be straight and aligned to shape. Your rod should be able to make things straight, just and right.

“When you have this instrument you use it to build, and what shall you build? You build a house or mansion for God and obviously, not for Satan. Use your rod to build yourself as a temple of God. So, when you hold your rod that signifies or represents a measuring line and a plumb line, then you have to get cement, sand and other building materials. Those materials make up your character for service that God has given to you to go and build. If you like sin as your character, build on it.

“As you wake up in the morning you start building even with your greetings to your neighbours. The manner you say good morning to your neighbours could elicit bad feelings and response. The neighbor could be angry with you that the way you said the good morning indicates that you have a grudge in your mind. You prepare food for your husband and make silly statement over it, the food is good but the manner of its presentation was bad. In all of this we are building.

“When you see a building that is not balanced wont you know? What we build could cause problem to the society. Whatever you are secretly building now one day it will be commissioned and opened for you. If it is not good we will destroy it and that is why we are out to transform some lives that have for so many years been bent.

“By their fruits we shall know them, by your character we shall know the kind of house you built. Use the straight rod given to you efficiently. Those who recklessly built unbalanced houses also have the plumb line and the measuring line but they have a problem upstairs; we pray that as LGD members your head must be correct.

“The interpretation of the parable is clear; the straight rod has two spiritual functions: one to measure and the other to level. The measuring line is called Justice and the plumb line is called Righteousness. Justice and Righteousness is the foundation of LGD and that is where God stays. With these you are with your God, with these God will not depart from you. God is in heaven but when he comes down, Justice and Righteousness is his footstool. If God places his foot on you it means you have carried God that God rested on you.

“You have to use your rod well. Your character and behavior entails your attitude; the way you think, speak and reason. That is why we pray to God to have mercy on us because of the words we spoke, the thought of our mind and the deeds that we did.

In summary, the Book of Isaiah 28:17 clearly states God’s thoughts on the matter, “I will make justice the line, and righteousness the plummet; and the hail shall sweep away the refuge of lies, and the waters shall overflow the hiding place.” This the word of God.
