  • Urges Xtians to lust after God

By LGD media

The root causes of most of the challenges that Christians face have been traced to their lust for luxuries and material possession of the world instead of craving divine guidance as they progress in their journey of life.

Pastor Emmanuel Irame gave the admonition in a recent sermon titled, ‘lust of the world’ and urged Christians to redirect their energies to lust after God rather than pursuing world pleasures, luxuries and the unsatiated desires to possess them.

He said anyone who falls within the web of attempting to satisfy personal desires and acquiring worldly materials and possession faces lifetime challenges generated from the lust because he has become a friend of the world and automatically becomes an enemy of God.

He identified worldly materials and crave for their possession to include: prosperity (lust for wealth), romance which entails the urge for opposite sex partner for the purpose of marriage, procreation or just for erotic satisfaction).

He described lust as something one would like to get but find it difficult to lay hand on and therefore developes a strong drive to owning it.

“You see the thing, you can see the picture, you even see yourself getting that thing but you cannot get it, and then you lust after it. You would be dreaming, I would get a private jet one day and you lust over the jet.

.The truth is, a Christian and an LGDist has to lust for God and God will  give him direction to fulfill his life dreams: his marriage, businesses, shelter etc; rather than living a godless life where one would be tossed about by his lust for wealth, power, fame and material possessions which propensity leads to financial distress, social crisis, emotional imbalance that ultimately endangers the physical and mental health of the individual.

He called for engagement in godly commitment while tackling daily life challenges in whatever strategy and pattern they intend to employ in their ventures to make life better.

“Anything you are doing today commit it to God. Anything you are doing that leads you from God is unholy, whatever business you are doing and no matter how much is involved, if you analyse it and you find it is against the will of God, if the characters involved are evil and meant to honour the world and not God; be you Musician, an Actor, a Businessman, whatever you do that does not honour God is evil and certainly ” by their fruits we will know them”. He said.
